Rafaёl Govaerts has worked at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew since 1994. He generates synonymised taxonomic lists for selected families and is currently completing all Monocot families. He is co-author of Kew’s World Checklist and Bibliography series. He is convener for TDWG and has interests in plant conservation.

John Dransfield has worked at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew since 1975 and is a leading specialist in the systematics of palms with experience in their natural habitats worldwide. He is co-author of Genera Palmarum, the standard scientific reference book for palms, and co-edits PALMS, Journal of the International Palm Society.
