Roses are among the most recognizable and romantic of all flowering garden plants, evoking memories of wonderfully perfumed summer days. This combination of botanical beauty and practical advice from Tony Hall, Kew's Head of the Gardens, will inspire beginners and experienced growers to cherish and grow roses of all types.

78 different roses are profiled, with specific instructions on how and where to grow them, while twelve projects offer inspiration for a range of uses in different garden situations. The various rose types are described, and advice is given on choosing the right ones for your garden, as well as on planting, and general care and maintenance.

Tony Hall is Head of the Gardens at Kew and responsible for Kew’s spectacular Rose Garden, which has more than 3,000 roses with 160 varieties. He is author of several books, including The Immortal Yew (Kew Publishing, 2018), Gardening with Drought-Friendly Plants (Kew Publishing, 2020) and Gardening with Winter Plants (Kew Publishing, 2023).
