Kew Kohl Rabi Seeds
Product Description
These Kohl Rabi seeds grow into a unique, sputnik-like appearance vegetable which is crisp, juicy, and surprisingly sweet flavour—a delightful cross between a mild turnip and a crunchy apple.
Slice it thinly for a refreshing slaw, cut it into batons for a healthy crudité platter, or cube and roast it until tender and caramelised. Don't discard the leaves! They are just as delicious and can be cooked like kale or collard greens, making Kohl Rabi a fantastic "zero-waste" vegetable.
Often called the "German Turnip" or "Cabbage Turnip," this fascinating member of the brassica family grows its edible, bulb-like stem above ground, offering a culinary experience unlike any other.

Growing tips:
- Sowing months: March, April, May, June, September, October
- Sowing info: Sow thinly, 12mm (½in) deep, in drills 30cm (12") apart.
- Thin seedlings to 7cm (3") apart for small roots, or 10-15cm (4-6") for larger roots. Keep moist at all times for the most succulent roots and to minimise woodiness, bitter flesh and bolting. Young leaves are also delicious in a mixed salad.
- Aftercare info: When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3") pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12") apart.
