Product Description

Discover the extraordinary plant life of the Caribbean with Flora of the Cayman Islands, the definitive and fully revised reference to the native and endemic flora of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac.

About the Book:

  • Author: George R. Proctor
  • 880 pages, 15.24 x 6.35 x 23.37 cm
  • Hard cover, Kew Publishing, 2010

  • The three islands comprising the Cayman Islands (Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac) support 415 native taxa in a land area little over 260 square kilometers, 29 of which are uniquely Caymanian. 250 line illustrations and over 400 colour photographs illustrate the majority of species most likely to be encountered.

    About the Author:

George R. Proctor: He was a highly respected Caribbean botanist, taxonomist, and author whose work significantly advanced the study of West Indian flora. Widely recognised for his expertise in the plants of the Caribbean, he specialised in island floras and pteridophytes and produced numerous influential botanical works covering Jamaica, Barbados, the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Cayman Islands.

Originally published in 1984 and extensively revised for this second edition, Flora of the Cayman Islands reflects decades of field research and botanical study. Proctor's meticulous documentation of the islands' plant diversity has made this work the definitive reference for understanding and conserving the unique flora of the Cayman Islands.
