Henk J Beentje is a botanist with considerable field experience in Africa and Madagascar. He has published titles on Kenyan trees, Zanzibari forests and Madagascar palms, as well as on African vegetation in general and plant glossaries. His main interests are in regional Floras, field guide production and conservation. He is currently editor of the Flora of Tropical East Africa at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Salomão O Bandeira is a botanist with a long-standing interest in marine botany. He is a leading expert on seagrasses and is passionate about the importance and conservation of marine plant ecosystems. He is also interested in traditional plant medicine and folklore regarding plants. He currently coordinates several international research programmes at the Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo, Mozambique.
