This fascinating book is a homage to Marianne North’s vivid and detailed paintings of flowers and landscapes from across the globe. Over a period of 15 years beginning in 1871, she visited the Americas, the Caribbean, the Seychelles, several islands in South-east Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand. She was exceptionally prolific, producing hundreds of paintings of the place she visited.
Gathered here are a selection of luxury plates of the botanical paintings, landscapes and animal studies that are displayed in the gallery she sponsored at Kew. They are reproduced in full colour alongside black-and-white outlines so that you can have the pleasure of creating your own Marianne North masterpieces.
