The first account of the orchids of Samoa since 1911, covering 101 species in 47 genera. The introduction deals with geography, vegetation and the structure of orchids. There are keys to aid identification and 27 line drawings and 81 colour photographs illustrate the text.
Phillip Cribb graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1968 and was awarded his Ph.D. in 1972. He specialises in the systematics of tropical orchids, and is the author of many scientific papers and books on orchids. He is a leading authority on slipper orchids and the author of monographs of the slipper orchid genera Cypripedium and Paphiopedilum.
