About the Author:
Professor W.T. Stearn(1911-2001) was one of the twentieth century's most distinguished botanists, taxonomists, and botanical historians. Internationally respected for his expertise in plant nomenclature, taxonomy, and horticulture, Stearn was closely associated with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and made significant contributions to botanical science throughout his career. His pioneering research on Epimedium established him as the leading authority on the genus, and his original 1938 monograph remains the foundation of modern Epimedium taxonomy. Stearn authored numerous influential botanical works and was celebrated for making complex botanical subjects accessible to both specialists and gardeners, earning a lasting reputation as one of the most important botanical writers of his generation.
