Kew Temperate House Seeds: Hooker's Banksia

Part of our collection of seeds inspired by plants in Kew's Temperate House.

Hooker's Banksia
Banksia hookeriana

Brilliant, flame-orange cone heads often used as an exotic cut flower in their homeland, Australia.

Plants are large, bushy, rounded to sprawling, tender, evergreen shrubs with narrow deeply-toothed, grey-green leaves and large, orange-yellow, cone-shaped flower heads in summer.

The artwork on the packet reproduces prints and paintings from the Library and Illustrations Collections of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and depicts plants found in the Temperate House, some of which are threatened or endangered in the wild.
