"Brazil: a powerhouse of plants: Margaret Mee, pioneering artist and her legacy" is now on in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art here at Kew.


It features work by artists who have been inspired and influenced by Brazilian flora and will include works from Dr. Sherwood’s collection alongside illustrations from Kew’s collection. 


Works by other artists including Margaret Mee and Sarah Ann Drake are on display, providing an all-round look at the beautiful and fascinating flora of Brazil.

About Margaret Mee:


Margaret Mee was born in England in 1909 but moved to Brazil in the early 1950s where she became fascinated with the exotic flora and soon started to venture into the Amazonian rainforest, searching for exciting plants to paint. More information here.
