Biography: Dora Batty was a prolific artist and illustrator. She worked in a number of media including gouache, pen and ink and scraperboard engraving. Throughout her career she produced numerous book illustrations, as well as designs for posters and pottery. Her popular designs often employed a bold, Art Deco style. In the 1920s and 1930s, Batty designed more posters for London Transport and the Underground than any other female artist.
