- Cropping: June to New Year
Specially selected by the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Kale Starbor F1 Hybrid (Brassica oleracea convar. acephala) can be used raw in salads or as a steamed vegetable.
Grow all the year round as a 'baby leaf' indoors on the windowsill. Outdoors if given wider spacing it will make an abundance of densely curled leaves over a very long period. Winter hardy as a full sized plant.
Sow seeds from March to May if growing outside. Keep well watered during dry weather. Can also be sown regularly in pots of seed sowing mix on the windowsill for a continuous supply of 'baby leaves'. If a few plants are missed and not picked as salad leaves, these can be planted into large containers and left to mature as large kale plants for winter use.
